i was reading an article in the sunday sun this weekend about sunderlands form with and without the spine of the team (the spine being Turner, Catts, Cana, and bent) all of which are bruce's signings.
The results in the premier league with these 4 players starting the game read won 3 drawn 3 lost 0.
Steve Bruce was left a squad (by keane)which imo was no where near good enough to be anything else but a yoyo side (bottom few of the prem or top few of the championship) i believe bruce will get it rite given time and when he does the only starters in the team from the squad he took over will be gordon and jones (if that).

Very good chance of these 4 lining-up against Portsmouth.
That statistic should read won4, drawn3 lost0 tonight

Despite all the negativity recently, I was impressed with hutton against Wigan and hopefully he will get some more decent balls in for Jones and Bent against Pompey.
The Spine of the Sunderland team isnt the problem, its the rest of it!
The wingers for example have been horrendous most of the season and our ever changing defence is a joke.
Bruce will get it right. Im sure of it.
