The rumours were confirmed today as SAFC confirmed they have placed a bid for Bolton striker Kevin Davies.
Bolton have rejected our initial bid but with 24 hours left before the transfer window closes, I expect us to return with an improved deal and we could see the 34 year old in a SAFC shirt by the time we play Norwich on Wednesday.

Sunderland have seen an offer for Davies rejected by their Premier League rivals, with O'Neill's counterpart Owen Coyle keen to hang on to his captain.
Davies has slipped out of Coyle's starting line-up in recent weeks and his future at the Reebok Stadium is uncertain as he is out of contract at the end of the season.
Coyle confirmed earlier on Monday that he does not wish to lose Davies, but acknowledged the situation could change if the forward decided he wanted to move on before the transfer deadline.
Better idea
O'Neill is now considering whether to make another attempt to sign Davies as he looks to bolster his striking options at the Stadium of Light.
"We have made an offer to Bolton for him, and that has been rejected at the moment," said O'Neill. "We will see where we stand later on today.
"We would have to organise something with Bolton first of all and at the moment, we seem to be apart in those aspects.
"But perhaps later on today, I might have a better idea."
The Black Cats boss also confirmed that midfielder Craig Gardner will not be allowed to leave the club ahead of the transfer window closing on Tuesday.
